Next Meeting: April 26th 7pm at the Bee Lab, Our Guest speaker Will be Andrea Wade From the College of Wooster. She will be sharing her research on two insecticides (chlornatraniliprole and methoxyfenozide) and their harmful effects on honey bees on their own and when combined with a certain fungicide.

Andrea is a senior undergraduate Biochemistry major at the College of Wooster. She grew up in Maryland and moved to Wooster for school in 2013. She started working at the OARDC in the entomology department helping with projects on ground beetles and forest ecology over the summer of 2015. She has always been interested in agriculture and environmental contamination. When she heard about Dr. Reed Johnson's work with pesticides and their impact on honey bees, it sounded like the perfect opportunity for her to study the impacts of environmental contamination while continuing to work with insects and staying in entomology. After studying coastal ecology abroad in East Africa for a semester, She returned to Wooster and began working in the honey bee lab at the OARDC in Spring of 2016. She is new to bee keeping, but she quickly learned to love it as she spent the summer managing hives and using them to research the impacts of agricultural chemicals on honey bees. She used this research for her senior thesis at the College of Wooster.
